Meet Yuki - Founder & Head Esthetician

Yuki is a highly skilled and dedicated professional in the field of acne care with over 15 years of experience as a licensed Colorado esthetician. As a certified acne specialist, she has extensive expertise in treating and managing acne, particularly in teenagers and young adults.

In addition to her esthetician credentials, she is also a functional nutrition coach, certified preventive health instructor, and certified medical interpreter. All of her training and experience has been in the pursuit of both safe and sustainable acne solutions, focusing on comprehensive methods that promote long-term skin health.

I've been going to Face 5 for a bit over a year now, as someone who had on and off breakouts, ingrown hair, and old acne scars. I struggled with acne since I was a teenager, and it's continued well into adulthood; being something I was always very self conscious about, I always wondered if I could ever get rid of it for good.

My situation with acne had tapered off with acne scars and occasional zits being the worst of it when I saw Yuki - I had dark blemishes on the face, but I didn't know how to keep new breakouts or blackouts under control, even as I trial and errored through several different types and brands of skincare products by myself, tried Retinol, etc.

However, I no longer struggle with that problem anymore, and I feel a lot more confident about the appearance of my face after having seen Yuki and her staff for regular appointments. My skin is a lot clearer, smoother, hydrated, and brighter looking than it used to be, and the vast majority of my acne scarring and skin deadness has vanished thanks to Yuki's help.

Yuki will first analyze the skin type you have, so she can provide the best fit of skincare products for you, it's not a one-size-fits-all procedure, as everyone's skin is different, she will personalize it for you. I had highly sensitive and dry combination skin, and was accommodated and advised for that.

She is very knowledgeable and provides a lot of lifestyle information that can contribute to acne, and advice on what to do, to reduce the chance of acne coming back on the face - everything from detailed diet breakdown, stress, hormones, chemicals to avoid in shampoos and body washes, shaving properly (I switched from a five blade to single blade razor, which makes a world of difference, I get a cleaner shave out of it and now I will never go back to those razors.) after being advised on what to do with my skin, and how to better take care of it. I was impressed with how heavily researched and detailed the chemicals and regimen were, and I saw meaningful and effective results when I stuck to her recommended daily skincare routine tightly.

I saw Fiona at first, since Yuki was fully booked at the time, but later had sessions with Yuki. Yuki herself is kind and easy to talk to, and very helpful with advice. Cadee is also a courteous, welcoming, and kind receptionist. The facials are also quite soothing, and I like the tidy office space. I highly recommend others give Face 5 a try if you are struggling with acne.

Where do I start?!….Yuki and her staff are the absolute best! I began seeing Yuki 4 or 5 years ago when my confidence was shot. She guided and coached me to beautiful and radiant skin. My confidence was completely restored and still intact today. Not only did Yuki fulfill my skins every need, she is also a true inspiration. My Why

As a mother, I deeply understand the heartbreak of watching my three older sons struggle with acne. These challenging years taught me more than I ever imagined, and now I aim to share my knowledge to help others. The good news is, there is hope for you or your child!

Acne affects more than just the skin; it impacts self-esteem and social confidence. Teens with facial acne may avoid public events, while those with back acne might miss out on summer fun. As a parent, I want so much more for our children—to simply enjoy their youth.

With four boys, three now in their twenties, I was determined as an esthetician to prevent them from suffering the way many teens do, and to avoid harmful medications like Accutane. The good news was, despite our family’s history of acne, I learned that acne can be controlled with the right diet, lifestyle, and skincare routine.

My journey involved understanding different types of acne and how to treat them uniquely. For instance, my oldest son’s sensitive skin needed specific products, while my second son’s perioral dermatitis improved with tailored skincare and a toothpaste switch. By the time my third son faced acne, I was well-prepared, and now, my sons maintain clear skin with healthy habits and Face Five Skincare products.

From this experience, I developed the Acne Solution Program, offering in-office and virtual consultations. Our Face Five Skincare products cater to various skin types, emphasizing a holistic approach to clear skin. FAQs

How much does it cost to start your program?

Your first appointment will be Acne Solution Program 101 appointment. It is $98 at The Peel Bar or $115 in Private Room, plus around $100 -$250 for your first round of products. The products will last about 6-8 weeks.

What kind of services do you offer?

We offer Acne Solution Program, which is our acne clearing method to treat and clear acne in about 90 days. We also offer microneeding treatment for acne scars, and hydro-glow treatment which is our virsion of hydrodermabrasion treatment.

How long before I see results?

Acne can take up to 90 days to form, therefore most of our clients see clear skin in about 90 days. Please know that not every client is the same, therefore some might see results quicker or slower than others.

Do you offer gift cards?

Yes, we do! They are available for purchase in our online store or at our clinic in person.

What kind of chemical peels do you use?

Our peel is specifically blended to treat the acnic skin. Our peel is designed to calm down the inflamed acne and loosen up the sebum that is clogging up the pores. Don’t worry, our peels don’t make you peel like a snake. Unlike other intense chemical peels, you won’t even know that you had a chemical peel after the treatment.

Are there things I shouldn’t do after the chemical peel treatment?

Please avoid getting your skin wet for 4-6 hours after the chemical peel. Avoid direct sun exposure, extreme heat, working out, and sweating for 24 hours post-treatment.

Why do I have to use Face Five products?

In short, because we cannot guarantee results if you use other products. Non-Comedogenic ingredients are not FDA-regulated, therefore companies can claim that their products will not clog your pores even if that is not the truth. Other lines might also use fragrances or products that will irritate skin. This is not a concern with Face Five’s acne products, as we have control over what goes into our products.

How do you handle different levels of acne?

We understand that not everyone’s skin has the same problems or will react the same way to products. During your first appointment, we will conduct a skin test to determine which strength of products your skin will tolerate. We will identify the specific type of acne you have, as well as any “acne imposters,” and make sure that we select the products with the ingredients that will be most beneficial to you.

Do you offer any services to reduce acne scarring?

Yes. Our Acne Solution Program addresses acne scar treatment from the beginning. Your homecare products and in-clinic treatments are designed to get your acne under control and get rid of acne scar quickly. But we also offer microneedling services for those who have severe acne scars which require more attention. Microneedling has been shown to help reduce acne scarring. However, we do not recommend these services for clients who are still experiencing breakouts.

What if I am going out of town?

We offer virtual appointments if you are not able to come in for the treatment. You will still need to continue your home care regimen!

What happens once my acne is clear?

There is no permanent cure for acne – once your skin is clear, you will still need to follow your home care routine to prevent future breakouts from forming. We also recommend coming in for treatments every 6-8 weeks to maintain the best skin possible.

What is the difference between chemical and mineral sunscreen?

Chemical sunscreen penetrates the skin, and can enter your bloodstream; therefore, we do not recommend it for clients who are pregnant or nursing. Mineral sunscreen forms a barrier on the surface of your skin which helps reflect UV rays without penetrating your skin. We prefer using Mineral Sunscreen for acne-prone skin since mineral sunscreen’s main ingredient is zinc oxide which helps skin to heal and to calm.

Do you accept health insurance?

No, we do not work with health insurance companies.

Do you offer acne-safe makeup?

We recommend PRIIA cosmetics. PRIIA offers 100% acne-safe makeups. We also have a list of acne-safe cosmetics you can find in beauty stores available on our Pinterest page and also we can print or email the list for our clients upon request.

What if I cannot come in for an appointment every two weeks?

We do recommend coming in for a treatment every two weeks to see the fastest results, however, we understand that is not always an option. If you cannot come in for an appointment every two weeks, you may schedule a virtual appointment so that we can make the necessary adjustments to your home care routine.

Will I need to buy different products every two weeks?

No. For the best results, we will need to slightly adjust how you use the products in your home care routine every two weeks, however for the most part the products will not change until you run out.

Do you offer services for other skin care concerns?

Our main focus is on helping clients with their acne, however, we do offer treatment to help with rosacea as well. They are the same price as the Acne Solution Program treatments.

Can you help clients who cannot come into the clinic?

You have two options:
Option 1:
We offer our Acne Rescue Kit. If you are not sure which kit is right for you, you may fill out our “SKIN QUIZ for Starting Kit” online so that we can determine which kit will work best for you, and the kit will come with instructions for the first 6 weeks of use.
Option 2:
Virtual Acne Program is a 1-on-1 program and it is 3 months long. You may find out more detail in our virtual acne coaching program page.

Are there any acne safe shampoos and conditioners?

Yes! We have some available in our store, but we also have a list of acne-safe hair products on our Pinterest page.

What is Mandelic Acid?

Mandelic Acid is an alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) derived from bitter almonds. It is synthetic; most clients with almond or nut allergies can use it without issues. Mandelic Acid is Anti-Inflammatory, Anti-Bacterial, and Anti-fungal; it exfoliates and lifts hyperpigmentation. Mandelic Acid is the queen of AHA. No other AHA does it all! It also helps to increase hydration and firmness in the skin.

What if I cannot use Benzoyl Peroxide?

If you are allergic to Benzoyl Peroxide, we recommend using our O2 cream instead. Please be sure to tell your acne specialist about any allergies you may have!

Will my skin get worse before it gets better?

It is not uncommon to see some “purging” in your skin between weeks 1 and 4 of you starting the program and using products. It is important to know that this is not necessarily a bad thing. This just means that acne breakouts that were under the skin are coming out to the surface. This is a good sign since acne breakouts just don’t disappear.

Do I have to switch all my non-acne safe products? (Detergent, make-up, toothpaste, etc)

In short, we do highly recommend that you switch to all acne-safe products. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee the results that you are looking for. This is due to people unknowingly putting pore-clogging ingredients on their skin that will cause acne to form. Unfortunately, many “acne-safe” products still include those pore-clogging ingredients, but we do have a list of acne-safe products on our Pinterest page!

Can I still take my multivitamins?

Multivitamins usually include ingredients such as B12 or iodides that cause acne. If you are deficient in a certain vitamin like D or C, then we suggest taking them on their own.

Wouldn’t it just be easier for me to get on Accutane?

While this option has yielded results for others and may seem “easier” than committing to a face routine, this option can be extremely dangerous for your body. It is known to cause many side effects. Our Acne Solution Program offers the option to try the holistic approach. Hope you give this a try before you choose Accutane.
