What is Microneedling?
Microneedling is a minimally invasive procedure that uses fine needles to create micro-injuries on the skin’s surface. These tiny injuries stimulate the body’s natural wound healing processes, including the production of collagen and elastin, which are essential for healthy, youthful skin. Despite how it sounds, Microneedling is not painful; we apply a numbing cream to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Over time, this treatment helps to fade scars and fine lines, improving the overall appearance of your skin.
Benefits of Microneedling
- Reduction of fine lines and wrinkles
- Reduction of hyperpigmentation
- Minimize the appearance of acne scars
- Reduction of pore size
- Gives the skin a more youthful look
- Increase the effectiveness of other topical products
- Increases collagen production
Why Choose Microneedling?
Microneedling offers numerous advantages over other acne scar treatments, such as laser treatments. Unlike laser treatments, Microneedling is effective on all skin types, including deeper skin tones, and is safer and more cost-effective.
Microneedling can help preserve the youthful appearance of your skin. Our Collagen Induction Therapy option fully rejuvenates your skin, offering an effective anti-aging solution.
Lastly, in alignment with all of our services, we’re proud to offer Microneedling to promote the body’s natural healing processes without the need for harsh chemicals or intense laser heat.
Microneedling vs. Laser Treatments
Both Microneedling and laser treatments are popular choices for acne scar removal, but they work in different ways and offer distinct benefits.
Laser Treatments:
- Mechanism: Laser treatments use focused light to remove the outer layer of the skin (ablative lasers) or to stimulate collagen production without removing skin (non-ablative lasers).
- Skin Types: Some lasers can be less effective or riskier for deeper skin tones due to the potential for hyperpigmentation.
- Downtime: Laser treatments often require more downtime compared to Microneedling, with redness and sensitivity lasting several days to weeks.
- Cost: Generally, laser treatments tend to be more expensive than Microneedling.
Microneedling:
- Mechanism: Microneedling uses fine needles to create micro-injuries, stimulating the skin’s natural healing process and collagen production.
- Skin Types: Safe and effective for all skin types, including deeper skin tones, without the risk of hyperpigmentation.
- Downtime: Minimal downtime; most clients experience redness for only 24-48 hours.
- Cost: Typically more affordable than laser treatments, making it accessible for more people.

FAQ
Microneedling Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does Microneedling help with getting rid of acne scars?
A: Yes, the Microneedling process promotes the growth of new collagen in your skin, encouraging your skin to heal itself. This reduces the appearance of all types of acne scars, including ice pick, boxcar, and rolling scars.
Q: Am I a good candidate for Microneedling?
A: Microneedling is considered safe for most skin types and conditions. However, we do not recommend microneedling for clients with active acne breakouts. If you are still experiencing breakouts, we suggest starting with our Acne Solution Program to get your acne under control. Our acne specialists can help you determine if Microneedling is the right treatment for you.
Q: How long does the treatment take?
A: The treatment process begins with numbing the skin, which takes about 20 minutes. The Microneedling treatment itself takes approximately 30-45 minutes, followed by 20-minutes under an LED red light. Most clients experience redness for 24-48 hours or less. It is important to avoid sun exposure and refrain from using normal skincare products or makeup for 48 hours following the treatment. We will provide you with an After Treatment Serum to use during this period.
Q: When should I expect results?
A: We recommend 3-6 treatments, spaced 4-6 weeks apart, for the best results. While Microneedling triggers your body’s wound healing processes immediately, the most dramatic results will typically be visible 4-6 weeks after the treatment. Results may vary based on scar type, skin type, and the age of the scar tissue.
